Who Doesn't Need A Visa To Travel To Sweden?

To enter Sweden, the nationals of countries of the European Union, just have to present a passport or a national ID card, but keep inminde that passports are recommended. They can visit, live, study and work infinitely without need to have a residence permit (UppehĂ„llstillstĂ„nd). 


The nationals of Canada and Switzerland can stay in Sweden without a visa for a period of 90 days, on presenting their passport only. For the longer stays, it is necessary to apply for a residence permit and not a visa. It is necessary to make an application before arriving in Sweden. An interview with a state employee of the closest Swedish embassy is required. The procedure takes about 8 months. 


The foreign students have th right for a residence permit in Sweden, if they can prove that they have been accepted by a Swedish educational establishment, and can guarantee that they are capable of meeting their needs.


The nationals of other countries in Africa, Asia and of certain Eastern European countries have to obtain a tourist visa to enter Sweden. An application should be delivered to the Swedish embassy in the country oif the applicant then waite for 2 months. The visa fees are 60 and are not refundable for the majority of the applicants. 


Visas are valid for 90 days within 6 months and extending a visa is not easy to do. The Swedish agency of migration, Migrationsverket, manages all the visa applications, as well as the residence and work permits.
