Students who wish to pursue their higher studies, can do that through one important program that provides scholarships. This program is called Erasmus Mundus. It has started in 1987 and it is European Union's student exchange programme.
European Union's Erasmus Mundus is a European program, which allows institutions of higher education in Europe and outside Europe to build partnerships and set up common trainings and study programs of high-quality.
The students accepted in an Erasmus Mundus program, can obtain a scholarship of mobility. At present, there are 131 Master's degrees in Erasmus Mundus program and 34 Doctorates.
For every Erasmus Mundus intership, at least 3 European establishments are involved, among which there is one that is indicated as Coordinator. France is the country which receives most Erasmus Mundus programs with 32 Master's degrees and 6 doctorates.
As any integrated program, the Erasmus Mundus scholarships lead to a joint diploma or a double diploma.
It is possible to apply for any Erasmus Mundus program. Every set of the establishments, which participate in the implementation of anErasmus Mundus program, fixes the criteria of eligibility, the conditions of delivery and the amount of scholarship, the rules of mobility between establishments, contents of the program etc.
The period of application for numerous programs begins, at least, 10 or 11 months before the entry date (for example, in October, 2016 for an entry in September, 2017) and stops, sometimes, 9 months before (for example, in December, 2016 for an entry in September, 2017).
