How To Obtain A Norwegian Study Permit?

Who do not need a student visa to study in Norway?

For the students nationals of the following countries, obtaining a Norwegian student visa is not necessary: 


Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, South Korea, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, Spain, Estonia, United States of America, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Hong-Kong, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Machaut, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, San Marino, El Salvador, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Uruguay, Vatican, Venezuela.

What are the procedures to be able to study in Norway? 


First of all, you have to contact the embassy of Norway, which is closest to you and make an application for a study permit. Then you should:


1- Supply the letter of acceptance you got from a Norwegian university, which must be recognized by the Norwegian authorities for the pursuit of full-time studies and specifying the contents of the planned program. 


2- As an applicant, you have to prove that you have enough financial resources to support yourself. You have also to supply an address in Norway, where you will live during your studies. Thus, it is necessary to contact the office of the international students in advance to obtain an accommodation.

3- You will have to supply a valid passport during your application and during your arrival in Norway. Only the nationals of Scandinavian countries should not fill this obligation.


4- You have to leave Norway and return to your country after the end ofyour studies in Norway. You can prove that you will leave Norway through showing that you have a return ticket for your country, or at least the means to pay for a ticket.




5- It will take from two to four months to obtain the residence permit. If you obtain it, you will receive a visa of 7 days, which will allow you to travel to Norwy.

An important information that you should know is that, Norway is a part of the Schengen area, and so all the people having obtained a visa for one of the countries of this space can stay in Norway for a duration of six months without having to apply for another visa.
